What is an Opportunity Zone?
In 2017, Opportunity Zones were added to the tax code by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to help drive economic growth through long-term investments in distressed communities. These areas present opportunities for real estate investment and development by offering tax incentives to investors. Investors, such as businesses, developers and financial institutions that invest in targeted areas can defer capital gains taxes through investments in federally established Opportunity Funds.
Quick Steps to Finding Opportunity Zones in MMT Tax
You can search for Opportunity Zones under any of the Ownership searches.
Once you have selected your type of search and the county you want to search, Opportunity Zones can be found under the Show/Hide Advanced Options tab.
Click on the drop-down menu and the Opportunity Zones available in the Census Tracts for that county will be displayed. The number of parcels in each Opportunity Zone is also listed.
If you would like to direct mail to any of the Opportunity Zone properties, select the properties and print out the mailing labels.
