Creating a Google Alert

We have had a lot of calls recently where properties for sale are being listed as rentals on various websites.   First, notify the service that it is a fraudulent posting.  Most websites are very responsive and will remove the posting quickly. Second, notify the local authority’s fraud department.

To quickly catch activity such as this, create a Google Alert for each of your listings.  This will help you by monitoring the web and notifying you via email of any new activity that matches your entry or in this example, the listing’s address.

1. Go to Google Alerts http://www.google.com/alerts

2. Enter the address of the listing that you want to follow

3. To change your settings, click Show Options. You can change:
  • How often you get notifications
  • The types of sites you’ll see
  • Your language
  • The part of the world you want info from
  • How many results you want to see
  • What accounts get the alert

4.  Click Create Alert. You’ll get emails whenever we find matching search results.
